Been searching for the best shell replacement. so far i haven’t got any of that suit my needs. My only goal is to hide everything from the screen except shortcut on the desktop, since i’ve work at a PC game center here in Indonesia. I Don’t want anybody messin’ around with the PC’s. the new shell must had an ability to restrict browser launch. Your utility seems to fill my needs to pursuit my goal(s).
Hope u understand this description. Thx

Hey Esetiawan!
I understand totally. You may want to try Auto Hot Key.
Use it to disable all the keys you don’t want pressed.
Hope I’ve Helped!

Get AutoHotKey from here

It stopped my windows key+ e function and now I can’t bring up my explorer the fast way. How can I re enable that function again without turning on the taskbar?

Hi guys thanks for the comments! =]
Well xdevil1, this program disables the start menu, thereby disabling the start KEY also.
The easiest way for you to fix this would be to make a new shortcut key for explorer:
1. Go to start – all programs – accessories.
2. Right click on windows explorer and select properties.
3. In the shortcut key section make a new shortcut.
4. Voila! A new shortcut for Windows Explorer
If you would like me to make you a modified version with the start key not disabled I will be able to. The only catch is that the start menu wont be disabled, only the taskbar. So I can modify it just to disable the taskbar if you would like.
Thanks guys!

Modified version will be nice

Pfff… I can’t tell you how much time I’ve searched for an app like this one. The only bad comment I could say is: “Where were you all this years we needed you, KaneBT? All this years we was waiting for you?” Naaa, just a joke. Thank you ! You’re the man ! It’s just perfect. And contrarly to some so-called devs, you’re there to answer support questions. I hope the feedbacks here will help you to improve it more and more and to keep this project up.

@Mojo: yep, Ill make a modified version and post it here when its ready.
@FenyX: haha. thanks man. great to hear your feedback.

Where could I find the config for this tool in the registry? not about taskbar but just the tool, because I’ve seen the user interface the first time I’ve used it, it asked me if I wanted it to stay active at next startup (checking or unchecking), but now if I open it I see its icon in systray (RocketDock KkMenu Tray) and not the user interface. It’s ok as it’s well configured now and if I would like to change it I could go to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run” myself. But it’s just to tell you what’s happening here. Anyway, it changes nothing to what I’ve said previously, lol.

Ive replied to your question via email FenyX.
@Everyone: modified version coming soon! Just tweaking some things.
Cheers!

about the UI, I was sure that I had checked something in a mini UI, blablabla… just like I said in your site. But being sure doesn’t mean I was right, lol. In fact I’ve tested so much tools before trying your one that I think I’ve totally confused beetween your tool and another. You imagine ? Your tool is near perfect so the only peoples who want to be criticists have to find defaults in other apps not built by you because there’s none in your tool. haha. My english is approximative but I’m sure you get it. Let it go and please ignore or remove my dummy comment.
Thanks one more time for this work and the time you’re passing on it.

Great little app, goes well with rocketdock…now all I need is a systray replacement.
May 3, 2008 at 3:01 pm |
Hi Tech-Mike,
The only real stable and reliable systray replacement for RocketDock is KkMenu with the last mod. It’s just great. In addition, the KaneBT’s taskbar remover allow us to register the systray monitor at level 2 (don’t worry, you will easily understand the levels when installing KkMenu to your Docklets folder) so the systray is more efficient. Level 2 requires that no other app is using systray as the main systray engine, and the Taskbar Remover of KaneBT makes it possible. The result is a systray perfectly integrated to your RocketDock bar. I also recommend Stack docklet for cool custom menus (more in screenshot below)

The perfect tutorial for you is at CrystalXP.net. It’s a little bit old, the RocketDock version has changed and some button or menu names too but it’s very easy to understand. Just give it a try:

You can also find some KkMenu skins that matches your RocketDock skin at deviantart.com. Hope it helps. Have fun !

Any luck with the modified ‘disable taskbar only’ version? Need to show nothing on the desktop for a cunsumer facing touchscreen, but still need to access the start menu during maintenance.
Thanks for your time!

Hey! nice program.. however i left the taskbar at the top, so it’s annoying when i have windows open… how do you remove it, or atleast drag the taskbar?

I hope the modified “taskbar only” program is coming along. I would really enjoy that.
Cheers, and keep up the good work.
